Euthanasia

Providing support, guidance, and compassionate care during a difficult time.

As hard as it is for us to say goodbye to someone who has been at our side for so many years, it is sometimes the kindest choice, and it is a choice made out of love.

What is pet euthanasia and how do I know when it’s the right time?

Euthanasia means “a good death”. We strive to make it as peaceful and stress-free as possible, using injectable medications. You know your pet better than anyone else, and we can help to guide you in making your decision. It is a difficult and personal decision made with you and your veterinarian.

What drug is used?

For most pets, we use a combination of pain medication and sedatives to minimize anxiety. This is followed by an intravenous injection of barbiturate that acts within minutes.

What’s the cost of euthanasia?

Please call us at 902-827-4257 for any price inquiries.

Does the clinic also provide bereavement counselling?

We are here to support you at this sad time. We do not offer formal counselling, but we will help you to find the support you need.

Do you do house calls?

We do not offer house calls with our veterinarians. We highly recommend Forever Loved Veterinary Hospice and In-Home Euthanasia. They specialize in providing dedicated and compassionate end-of-life care for dogs and cats throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality.
